This Months Meetings
		Please note the location of the this months meetings Special Lunchtime meeting September 16th 2010 Build Personal Excellence to Obtain Maximum Achievement Fresh out of school ready and to take on the world, often this students often carry with them a not so accurate view of the world of work or expectations of the workplace. Some believe that the degree in which one earns from years of schooling is the single most important component required to achieve success, although a necessity to secure the position it does not guarantee �success�. The topic which I will speak on focuses on other �assets� one needs to acquire along the way to build personal excellence and maximum achievement. Fully 80 per cent or more of our success is mental. What we achieve is determined primarily by the way we think about yourselves, our life, and the people around us. As we change the quality of our thinking, we will change the quality of everything we do! It will be presented in practical way that we can all use to help us become more successful in our personal and professional lives. As the saying goes, there is very little we cannot accomplish once we put your mind to it. Kevin O�Donnell of TeamWorks Solutions is a Master Trainer and Business Partner for the Propane Gas Association of Canada. As a trainer, course developer and business consultant to small, medium and large companies for over 20 years, Kevin has developed a keen insight into the unique challenges facing today�s employers. Working with industry, Kevin has been instrumental in helping enhance safety and productivity in the workplace while helping individuals build a foundation of key employability skills required to be successful in the world of work.

Cost:		$30 dollars for CSSE Members and Students $35 for guests $20 dollars for student guests
		Important Instructions: Due to space restraints we can only accommodate 30 members at this event. You must preregister to attend this event. No walk ups!!! No shows will be invoiced for their lunch. RSVP is required if you plan to attend this event. RSVP by Sunday September 12 midnight. 	Please note the location of the this months meetings Special meeting meeting September 23rd 2010 Hearing Conservation This months speaker is from 3M who are presenting a one day free hearing conservation seminar earlier the same day at the Vancouver Convention Centre. I had sent information on the seminar a few weeks ago. I suspect that many members will be attending but many members may not be available for the one day seminar. The dinner meeting will let you get some perspective on hearing conservation. About 3M Occupational Health & Environmental Safety 3M is a worldwide leader in occupational hearing conservation education and product offerings with technical specialists in audiology, noise assessment & control, and hearing loss prevention, having a combined 75 years of experience. 3M's hearing conservation experts have conducted professional seminars throughout the United States for the past 30 years. Their articles have appeared in dozens of journals, books and trade publications and they have presented numerous technical papers and workshops at conferences and professional meetings around the world. In addition, 3M scientists are actively involved in developing technical standards and professional practices as leaders of working groups and advisory committees that deal with matters related to noise exposure and hearing loss prevention. Elliott H. Berger After receiving his M.S. in Acoustical Engineering from North Carolina State University, Elliott joined E•A•R, the company that invented foam earplugs, in 1976. Today, still working for that same company, now part of 3M, he is the Senior Scientist, Auditory Research, and the person responsible for the E•A•RCALSM acoustical laboratory. He conducts research and development in hearing protection, hearing conservation, and the effects of noise on hearing, and has written over 60 articles on hearing protection/conservation, and was the principal editor for the 4th and 5th editions of the AIHA Noise Manual. Elliott chairs ANSI working group S12/WG11 on hearing protectors, served on a National Academy of Science committee evaluating hearing loss in the military, is a past recipient of the National Hearing Conservation Association's Outstanding Hearing Conservationist Award, and in 1993, 1998, and 2001 received their Outstanding Lecture Award too. Elliott is a Past President of the National Hearing Conservation Association (NHCA), Past-Chair of the American Industrial Hygiene Association's (AIHA) Committee on Noise and a Fellow of the Association, a past Board Member of the of the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC), a Fellow of the Acoustical Society of America (ASA), member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), and an affiliate of the American Academy of Audiology (AAA).
