The Canadian Society of Safety Engineering (CSSE) is a non-profit organization of safety practitioners. Our objective is to promote the arts and sciences of loss prevention for the conservation of people, equipment, material and the environment, and to encourage the pursuit of excellence in the profession. Since 1989, the CSSE Chapters in BC have recognized outstanding achievement by both individuals and organizations through the annual Achievement Recognition Awards program. Each year, after nominations are received, an awards committee selects the winners. BC CSSE Awards is as easy as 1, 2, 3…
The awards will be presented at the BC CSSE Achievement Recognition Awards and NAOSH Week Awards Forum held on October 21,2009. Nominations are accepted for individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in the profession which resulted in a significant contribution to the workplace. You may nominate yourself or someone else in one of three categories:
Senior Safety Professional - CSSE member with more than 5 years safety experience Novice Safety Professional - CSSE member with less than 5 years safety experience Non-CSSE Safety Professional - safety professional who is not a CSSE member
TruckSafe Award - individual

Nominations are accepted for organizations, unions, teams, etc., who have succeeded in making a significant contribution in the workplace. You may nominate your own organization or group, or one that you are familiar with, in one of three categories: 1 - 50 employees or members 51 - 500 employees or members over 500 employees or members

Young Worker Special Project -to recognize organizations, unions, teams, etc., who have succeeded in completing a special prioject in relation to the health and and safety of young workers (15 to24 years of age). This award is sponsored by WorkSafeBC. Deadline for submission is June 26, 2009.
Best Training/Orientation Program for Young and New Workers - to recognize an organization for their outstanding program tailored to meet the specific needs of young workers (ages 15-24). This award is sponsored by the WorkSafeBC. Deadline for submission is June 26, 2009. There are two categories of awards:
Robert Wright Lifetime Achievement - to recognize the lifetime achievements of a CSSE member with 20 years or more experience, based on their participation in CSSE and their overall contribution to the field of safety through participation, contribution and/or mentoring. Deadline for submission is June 26, 2009.
Outstanding Achievement
by a Safety Professional - to
recognize an outstanding achievement in the area of development of a safety
tool, device or equipment, writing of a safety text, program or training course,
or production of a safety video, computer program or similar audio-visual
element. Deadline for submission is June 26, 2009.
Mar Sherwood Bursary (for
students enrolled in full time studies of OH&S) - this bursary will be given in recognition of
academic achievement, participation in the CSSE and the overall need of the
student. Deadline for submission is June 26, 2009.
Special Projects (2 or
more people) - to recognize a
project that will enhance OH&S beyond the workplace. Deadline for
submission is June 26, 2009.
Safety Specific Non Profit Associations -
to recognize non profit associations
whose mandate is the promotion of health & safety. Deadline for submission is
June 26, 2009.
Safety Inovations in Manufaturing - to recognize organizations, unions, teams, etc., who have succeeded in completing an innovation/special project in the Manufacturing Sector in relation to the health and safety that benefits workers beyond their workplace.Deadline for submission is
June 26, 2009.
